Downtown DC Roof Top Dinner!

An amazing evening! Thanks to our wonderful hosts Ester & Arthur Brooks and their sons, Carlos & Joaquin whose warmth and friendliness were so welcoming from the moments the service members and their families stepped off the elevators to savor a delicious “roof top” dinner.

Over 82 service members and their families enjoyed the roof top terrace views of downtown DC, the scrumptious buffet of steak, salmon, mac’ n cheese and more, a selection of books to choose from, gift cards for all, ping pong … but more importantly, the camaraderie throughout the room.

Everyone enjoyed browsing through the many books on policy research promoting freedom, opportunity, enterprise and some wonderful children books written by Lynne Cheney on the US Constitution, the 50 States and the ABC’s of the founding principles of our country. All left with a selection of books.

Ester Brooks is a Red Cross volunteer at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center-Bethesda and during the evening she was able to rekindle some special moments with several service members and their families. They were happy to see her and express their gratitude for her kindnesses while they were inpatients at Walter Reed….even remembering the apples she would bring them.

Hal Koster, Aleethia Foundation Founder, made a special presentation to thank Paul Wolfowitz, former Deputy Secretary of Defense, who has been a part of the “Friday Night Dinners” since 2003 and has been assisting and supporting the many wounded/injured service members he has met over the years. Also, Dr. Wolfowitz is a member of the Advisory Board of the Aleethia Foundation and has been instrumental in introducing the programs of Aleethia to many of the Ambassadors who have opened their Embassy/Residence to host a “Friday Night Dinner.”

Presenting a photograph taken at the 10 year Reunion of “Friday Night Dinners” held on October 5, 2013, of many of the wounded/injured service members that had attended the “Friday Night Dinners” over the past ten years.
